In a previous life, I used to be a hardcore Microsoft fan but in a surprising turn of events, I’m savoring the treats from Apple’s walled garden. The old me would’ve cringed and killed me. But in my defense, they simply nailed so. many. things. lately. Have you tried using an Apple Silicon laptop?

I love tinkering with all-things software. I even have a humble homelab setup at home which is mostly held-together by containers and blackjack. It currently serves as the digital media hub for my family so that we don’t need to play Where’s Waldo? every time we want to stream something.

Work

I’m still on a hiatus that I began after 5 years of grind. When I left, I was part of the Prime Video team at Amazon, shipping the latest redesign of X-Ray (y’know, the thing Apple now calls InSight?) and other flagship Prime Video projects. Before that, I was engineering a workplace messenger and re-thinking e-mail at titan.email. My journey began at NetApp, wrangling Kubernetes and Vue.js to build Data Fabric (now Astra)—NetApp’s flagship cloud portal.

Before the pandemic, I worked out of Bangalore which, if you’re unfamiliar, is India’s prime tech hub. I presented talks related to webdev and I co-ran a Vue.js meetup with some wonderful people during my time there.

Hobbies

I love tech/coding so it ends up being a large part of my hobby as well. I often tinker around with my homelab, pick up a new language/framework or sleuth Hacker News. Hopefully, this blog will end up taking a good chunk of that time soon. Otherwise, I might be reading, listening to music—mostly some good effin’ soundtracks, getting yelled at by a fucking bird to keep up with my Japanese lessons, chatting it up with some tech-nerd friends, bingeing a modest amount of anime/tv/movies and ranting about it with my other nerdy pals. I’m a sucker for video games with memorable stories and art direction, though, I don’t play as much as I used to. I blame The Witcher 3 and Sony’s flagship titles for ruining me.

The only sport I watch is Formula 1. I root for Max Verstappen. I was lucky enough to attend the Singapore GP in 2023 but unfortunately, I couldn’t witness a Max podium. Oh well, will try again.
